    1994 Caprice wagon w/ LT1 mystery wire...couple questions

Picked up a wagon last Friday.
Still going through and fixing some things.

Check engine light was on, turned out right o2 sensor was simply unplugged.
#3 fuse for AIR blown in underhood fuse/relay block.
Replaced the fuse, and it blew again.
Appears the smog pump is toast, unplugging it and the fuse doesn't blow.
Any way to test the air pump, or does this confirm it's toast...car has 140k.

Coolant temp gauge doesn't work, sending unit wire is MIA, all attempts to locate it have failed.
However I did find a mystery wire while cleaning up some PO wiring under the hood.

Can anybody identify it? It's spliced to engine loom right under alternator.
    Attachment 10283

It is the right color for coolant temp sending wire(DK green), but has no continuity with the wire under the dash.

delete the air pump but leave the relay in place and it won't throw a code. The air pumps are junk. its dead. it won't hurt emissions much to drop it

Not sure on your sender wire, I don't know b-body harnesses well

also welcome, we have quite the lt1 crowd here now

I can't permanently delete it, live in California, so for now it's just going to stay unplugged.
It passed smog with flying colors, with that fuse blown, so obviously it doesn't do much LOL.

    Again, LOVE the EEHack program.

it wont hurt anything *but* you should unhook the rubber hoses to the manifold and cram something in there to block it off. one common issue is the check valves flunk and it barfs exhaust, melts the hoses, etc.

I'm glad you like the program, it's a community effort, please do help me debug it and make any suggestions you like.

I may remove everything and plug the holes?
It did pass smog no problem without it working...
Who knows how long it's been like that is anybody's clue.
