    It's been a while...

Hello all! I figured I'd better re-introduce myself since I've been MIA for a long time!
I originally joined with my 1993 Cavalier Z24 which I still have, but NOW I have a 1994 Camaro V6.
What can I say? I guess I just love the junkers! HAHA

I have a pretty ambitious albeit ridiculous plan.... to put a 3.5L Oldsmobile LX5 in the Camaro.

I still have the Cavalier but I'm not sure for how long. I just lost interest in it.
My GF was in two crashes in as many weeks and as I looked for a replacement, I decided I didn't want her driving the Cavy because it didn't have airbags. Then I realized that I shouldn't probably be driving it either!

So now I am going to figure out how to get this LX5 into the 'maro and run it. I have the whole harness and ECU from the donor Intrigue.

Still a noob when it comes to tuning though. I learned a LOT with my EBL P4 Flash but I have a LONG WAY to go.

Thanks for being such a great community!

So, I believe that the ECU in the 94 and 95 F-Bodies are Flash based. I'm wondering how much change I can implement into the code. Do you guys think it's possible to change the mask used?
I say this because my "hope" is to use the 94 ECU to run the '99 LX5. The only super issue I can see is the the LX5 came with CoP ignition and, of course, the 3.4 is waste spark. I'm looking into the possibility of getting a MSD box to run the CoP if I can get the right box and inputs.

I hope to be able to learn enough here that I can be of help to others as well, but I can see right away that you guys have big shoes to fill!!

    Thanks to all so MUCH!!!

I wonder if using the LL8 (Vortec 4200 I-6) P10 computer would be an option worth looking into for running the LX5?

    P-10 computer CoP - Yes.

P-10 computer OBD2 Supported by EFI Live & HP Tuners - Yes.

    Affordable - Depends on budget?

Challenges: LX5 Crank Position Sensor, LX5 Cam Position Sensor, and Vortec 4200 Modified Flash File?

I think using the original OBD2 LX5 computer Does Not makes sense, because EFI Live & HP Tuners Do Not support the original LX5 computer.

I think there are going to be fewer challenges using OBD2 on the LX5, than using OBD1 on the LX5.

i'd vote for making an attempt with the camaro ecm just for the fact that it'll be a challenge. it'll be a bitch but it'll work somehow, and the challenges you will have to overcome would be half the fun.

the ecm itself is well understood, way better disassembled and documented than the crap i work on for sure.

That was kinda what I was thinking as well. I can use TunerPro on it -- a little. And I have a LITTLE experience using that.
What kind of "crap" do you work on? Is it OBDII?
I have heard about some J-2534 interface for the OBDII systems. Is that what you work with?

    Thanks for the help!

So, if I go with this ecm, will it matter what trans was in the donor? The Camaro is a stick shift, so I don't need a trans controller. Is it OK to use one out of an AT Trailblazer? I've come up with this service number - 12574976 am I on the right track? Thanks! Is there a better place to continue this thread? Should I be putting this in a GM sub forum?

12574976 is the correct part #.

I think a new tread, with a title like "Converting to a P10 ECM on an Olds LX5 engine" would be good.

Basic topic within the thread will likely be, but not limited to:
    CMP
    CKP
    CoP
    Flash

Indeed sir! Thank you very much!
That was going to be my next question...should I start a new thread in an appropriate location.

    Doing that now.

Thanks again Dave! You ARE the same Dave as SuperDave over on V6Z24, right? This is Jason in Boise, ID.

    Either way, Thank you!

    Your Welcome.

I'm not the SuperDave @ V6Z24. Dave is a common name.
