    Vortec reluctor thickness?

I need to machine down an ATI damper for a BBC - I bought an L21 reluctor wheel to play with, but I cannot for the life of me find it anywhere. Does anyone have one sitting around they can measure the thickness of? Or a Vortec 454 damper depth on the crankshaft hole?

Sorry, but I don't have firsthand information.

Fluidamper installation instructions say "NOTE For LT1 ONLY (P/N 740101): FOR ENGINES NOT USING A RELUCTOR WHEEL, USE THE .093" THICK SPACER, BEHIND THE DAMPER HUB. FOR ENGINES RUNNING A RELUCTOR WHEEL, DO NOT USE THE SPACER. KEYWAYS ARE CUT IN FLUIDAMPR TO INDEX TIMING MARKS."

ATI also sells .093" shims for their BBC hubs, part no 916310, which might imply the reluctor is close to the same size.

This thread has the following information:

Is this already a LT1? Otherwise, you can buy a gm cover that has the provision for the crank sensor for ~$30 # 12562818. then can get the 58x wheel and 4x distributor/cam sensor from eficonnection. If MS can handle the encoded 24x crank and 1x cam signal it gets even cheaper  Also remember to machine the thickness of the wheel off the harm balancer. The GM one I have here for a BBC was .087"

I believe machined .093" off my SBC balancer but can't find a supporting post. :(

Hmmm I never saw those listed before. I am running the GMPP 58x kit and it has no instructions. I also swapped an L31 accessory setup with the Kwik Perormance brakets, so I don't have a crank pulley yet, either. Rough measurement shows 2.000" of crank snout sticking out past the reluctor. Thanks for the info!

I found my 24x reluctor finally and measured it. 0.190" is the thickness where the hub from the damper seats FWIW.
