Hi. 97 vortec 5.0 into a 71 Landcruiser

Hi All. My name is Doug and I am installing a 97 Chevy C1500 Vortec 5.0 engine (and later the 4L60E) into my 71 Toyota Landcruiser. 20yrs ago I put in a carburated 78 chev 305 into the landcruiser but that engine died and I want EFI now. I have the donar truck this came out of and am most likely going to have some questions on making this swap.

I think the original "Black Box" computer will work good. I think upgrading to the newer 12200411 computer would be a better computer.

While I totally agree on the 0411 being better...... There is nothing wrong with black box on a stock engine. It will run the 4L60 just fine.

Why not go ahead and get the much better 5.7 vortec.. the 305 heads are no where near as good as the 350 ones.

The 305 heads flow nearly identically and have the small 58cc chamber a 305 would need. I have a Lunati 268 high efficiency flat tappet cam in a L30 305 Vortec in a 1999 Tahoe. Runs better than the stock L31 350 did in my opinon.
