    E38/T42

I only deal with obd 1 but have an acquaintance who want to do a ls3 from an 07 corvette with a e38 to a 4l60e from a 04 truck in his 38 chev. I am thinking he will need to can bus a t42 and address the no iss problem. Can anyone tell me what has to be done to make that work or links. I have looked around the internet. I realize no matter how it goes it will probably require a reflash of both computers.
    thanks

The 04 4L60E is the challenge, will it work correctly with the T42? The E38 / LS3 will work fine with a delete type flash (delete vats, delete emissions, ect). I think, but I'm not 100% sure, the T42 was first used with the 4L65E / 4L70E transmissions. I think, but I'm not 100% sure, the internal electronics of the 04 4L60E are virtually identical to the internal electronics of the 07 4L65E / 4L70E. The E38 and T42 will have to communicate with CAN data lines.

Generally, the E38 and T42 flash files are referenced by VIN#'s. You might need to find a VIN# of a 4L65E / 4L70E Suburban or Pickup for the T42 flash file. Generally, the stock T42 flash will work without modification for stock or nearly stock engines / transmissions.

I've tried an '07 4L60e with an '04 PCM, but not the other way around. We couldn't get it to shift quite right, so there is some difference between the '04 and '07 up transmissions besides the addition of the ISS. It might work better the other way around, but you might be better off finding someone who needs to trade for the older tranny.
