hi im in the midst of taking a toyota f motor and putting a chev tbi and small cap distributor on it and need to know if i have to change the programming or whatever in the brain box from under the glove box? the box i have is out of a 8cyl and after doing some machining the distributor now fits the block it came off a 4.3l chef as well.
You should expect to change the programming in order to get best performance. It might start and run with the 8 cylinder calibration but the odds are high that spark and fuel delivery won't be correct. Match the injectors to the expected HP of the engine, too. Depending on what computer you have you might have to buy a small chip as well as retuning the larger one.

i am not sure how to program the chip i have and wonder if i should go to a wrecker and get a chip set from a 4.3l and a set of injectors as it sounds as though the ones i have aren't the right ones for the motor. the box i have is 1228747 and the large chip is AKWA. what would an example of an appropriate chip or box be. how do you tell the size of the injectors?
you probly wont find a 4.3 chip for 1228747 I haven't seen any. get a 1227747 they make 4.3 chips from the factory for it.
