    Confusion - Reflash 95 LT1

    Hi,

I am a bit confused. Okay i see, the 95 LT1 differs from its predecessors since they use flash, right?

At Moates, I found the "ALDU1 and CABL2 Combo" fro 80 bucks.

    <http://www.moates.net/aldu1-and-cabl2-combo-p-128.html?cPath=64>

So I can use TunerPro to download and tweak my bin data? But what else do I need to finally flash the changed cal to the ECU? Do I need the APU1 or something?

    BTW:
    1995 Caprice LT1 ($EE, ECU:16188051)

    Thank you!

The piece of puzzle your missing is WinFlash available from TunerCat for $20. TunerPro does not have a WinFlash built into it. You use WinFlash to download your tune/bin from your PCM via your cable to laptop and ALDL port.

Then you can open that bin in TunerPro, also open the $EE .xdf file, this is the mask, it is used to read the bin and make changes. Save bin.

Use WinFlash to upload bin to your car.

Then open TunerPro and load the $EE .adx to read and record data from car while driving. When hooked up to car and looing at data don't forget to click record! Then when done click stop and you will be prompted to save recorded data with a file name. this file will end in .xdl

HTH! That's not a TunerPro file... Hope That Helps...

EDIT: Checked that link to what you got from Moates and they list all 1995 LT1 as having an OBDII type plug. But that is not true. Some have OBDI and some have OBDII so look at your ALDL port to see which you have? If you have not done so.

    Hi EagleMark,

Thanks for helping out! Perfect answer for my question. Excited to begin...!

One more thing, the ALDL from aldlcable.com should work, too. Right? Looks like a neater setup and is 20$ less...

    Thanks again!

I don't see why not? Ask them?

I use an AutoProm from Moates on everything, but you have no need for the other features it has if your just doing the LT1...

Thanks for the heads up. I already checked, it's an OBD I plug. I thought the changed to OBDII in 96 (at least the Caprices)? Have you seen 95's with OBDII?

Yes! Even though they are still OBDI some 1995 LT1 came with OBDII ALDL plugs. In the bin is also some OBDII codes ready for the next year.

Although all cars were OBDII in 1996.

I do not know anything about your car.

    Thanks Robert!

I doubt that my car will be the issue. I was more concerned if TunerPro would detect the cable.
    Cable's ordered...
