    tunerpro and windows 10 compatiblity?

I just got my notification that I can download windows 10 on my tuning laptop. I was about to click the go button and it dawned on me. will tunerpro work on win10? Has anyone tried yet? there is nothing about win10 on the tunerpro web site or their forum that I could find.

I didn't get around to checking if TunerPro worked, but I did play with Win 10 on one of my PCs for a while. It was very slow in comparison with Win 7 pro and sometimes I couldn't even get the start button to work unless I restarted. This was on a PC with a Core2duo and 4 gigs of RAM. I decided to go back to Win 7 (it gives you 30 days to revert) and when it started back up, I found out that they had deactivated my product key so now it says my copy of Win 7 isn't genuine. It looks like this is only an issue with an OEM copy of win 7 and not the retail version. I spent a couple of hours online with Microsoft support, but they only wanted to sell me Win 10 and said my PC manufacturer was responsible for fixing the issue. Upgrade at your own risk.

Upgraded to Windows 10 then returned to 7 after TP kept losing the autoprom. Other tuning interfaces were about 5 times slower as well. I tried updating everything and still the same. Not gonna work for me. Now back on 7 and everything is awesome again. I think I'll stay here for quite some time.

i'm sure tunerpro's author has a machine with windows 10, and is working on testing compatibility. if not, i wouldn't touch it until more people get on board.

I have no clue about windows 10. But I have windows 8 for a few years now and so far have had no issues with tunerpro.
My computer has popped up the thing saying I can upgrade to 10 for free, I keep closing it and ignoring it. I have been afraid to upgrade to it for reasons like mentioned above. Now I know I won't do it.

turn off the file indexing found on the hard drive properties. this speed up win 10 a bunch. if 7 works for you don't switch. why fix something that ain't broke...

I have win 10 on a desktop that I use for comparison with tunerpro rt. It works the same as when that machine had win 7.

For the heck of it did you try one of those free product key recovery apps? Used them to recovery license numbers before reloading the OS.

if you are going to upgrade to windows 10 back up your system before you do then if you want to go back to 7 it will save a lot of time. I didn't like 10 but I don't have a smart phone ether. so all things in app was strange to me.

If you have a SSD you'd probably want to turn off file indexing anyway.
I use a program called Acronis true image to create an exact image of my OS before I upgrade, if things don't workout I just reload the image of the old OS back over the new one and I'm normally back up and running in 5 minutes.

What do those apps actually do? I did use something to look up the key in the registry while I was online with MS. The way I understand it, Microsoft has deactivated my product key so it's no longer usable, but not sure. I tried to re-upgrade to Win 10 and it wouldn't even let me do that. I just swapped out the PC with a spare, so I'll be able to try to wipe and re-install Win 7. If that doesn't work, I'll probably just go back to XP on that one.

If Microsoft couldn't find it..not sure what to tell you...but the apps are free and they do work to recover the producy key on an operating PC. What I did for my last two Windows 7 PC builds is go on eBay and buy for example laptop battery covers with the Windows 7 COA on them. Sometimes you can buy a non operating laptop cheap and use the COA number

To answer the original question, I have installed windows 10 on my laptop and to date have not experienced any problems with TunerPro. Primarily, I have only connected to the ecm and did a short log to verify those functions. The only thing that I did notice so far are the graphics are not quite as crisp as they were with previous additions of windows.

Yes, I had issues after I upgraded my win7 to win10. TP ran, but my Log Files would not display any chart info in Monitors or Dash information. The data was there as I could see it in Items Lists. I tried running in win7 compatibility mode, still failed. Only after running Program Compatibility Troubleshooter would it properly display. Update: I worked one time only. Next time opened TP, back to lack of display. Microsoft Compatibility Troubleshooting not fixing, says Incompatible Program detected.
