    Which solder?

May sound like a basic question but my roll of solder is about gone and I can't read the label..so i don't know what I have.

It's about .035 in diameter and I assume non-resin core........ any suggestions?

BTW: I use Alpha Fry soldering paste flux from the hardware plumbing section with great results. I can soldering with an iron or torch with this flux.

    Thanks

It's all about personal preference, pretty much anything will work if you know what you're doing. I believe I use .025" or .032" flux core along with a flux pen.

i have two varieties of solder here, both 60/40 leaded and rosin-cored: .8mm and .5mm. the .8mm is great for general purpose usage while the .5 is great for surface mount components.

for flux, I have a couple bottles of Kester 951 and 186. the 186 is fairly aggressive and leaves behind some significant residue, while the 951 isn't nearly as aggressive and leaves behind nothing visible.

I have a roll of .022 dia flux core solder I have been using since I started messing around with fuel injection. Its radio shack brand. So far I have had zero issues with it.
