    Question 16197427 E-trans question

hey all, a quick question... My daughters camaro project will be running a '95 16197427 $0d code, we installed a 700r4 in the car, but then i came into a 97 4l60e.
i would like to use the e-trans if possible. i know there is a difference in the shift/pwm solenoids, i guess my question is if if this is something that can be handled in the bin or if i will have to break into the trans to swap out to earlier components? appreciate any input/info
    Thanks all, Skandolis

You should be fine with the 97 transmission and 95 model .bin. 95 was the first year for the PWM TCC lock up control.

thanks, i've been seeing a lot of conflicting information on the web about the 95-97 year 4l60e. i only want to do this once,so i am trying to cover all the bases twice..........
Im pretty comfortable anywhere front bumper to back bumper (mechanic by trade) but auto transmissions are something i prefer to farm out. I did build a c4 and a th350 in trade school close to 20 years back, but maintain a strict R&R policy on them.(Plus i hate used trans fluid like nothing else,it just seems to be magnetically attracted to me.)

pretty sure one of the shift solenoids is different too. at least with car transmissions, there's trouble using a 95 ecm with a 97 4l60e. maybe it's different with truck transmissions.

I'm running a 97 F-body transmission with a '95 tune '8051 PCM in my Impala. I've read that the 3-2 downshift solenoid is a higher resistance and not compatible. Apparently a 96 or 97 transmission used in a 95 could cause a code for the 3-2 solenoid and/or 3-2 downshift issues. I've never read what the downshift issue actually was though. Mine works fine and kick downs fine too. But, I can't tell you if it'll work with a '7427.

I think you could change the valvebody, separator plate and then put the 95 solenoid into it. I also think you can get a new or rebuilt valve body from a transmission parts company fairly cheap these days. But I wouldn't do that until you confirmed it doesn't work.

The E transmission is very much worth the effort as long as you're willing to spend the time programming the shifts and lockup how you want.

I did the reverse and it seemed to work fine.....Ran a 1995 4L60E behind a TPI engine with a PCM from a 1997 Express van in an older G20 van.
