    vortec timming

    hi I got a v6 1993 in a 1991 pickup with a 44288 ecm. what I was wondering is which is ture ,do you want less timming with the vortec engine than the standard engine or more timming? it is completely stock and worn out, started having really high knock counts last year thought might do some tunning to see if I can correct the problem without spending a lot of time on a worn out engine.

    93 vortec you mean CPI? if so not a true vortec heart shape chamber as the 96 and up.

    the engine was in the truck when I bought it, I assumed it is a vortec that is what is on the valve covers and it has 2 knock sensors on it.
