    Red face TBI conversion.

Hi, I'm new to this, and vary confused on blogging, if that's what it's called. I've been reading the forums, which helps a bunch, but I have been working on my '77 blazer, updating it to TBI for better performance. So far I haven't found a TBI conversion for trucks with a m/t, no cruze control, AC, or ABS. I didn't know if these wuold make a diffrance.
I hope someone could help me. Thanks

nah, it wont make a difference.

for a manual transmission, you just run a bin from a manual (or failing that, a bin from a non-electronic automatic, and disable the torque converter lockup).

abs and cruise control don't interface with the ecm in any meaningful way. maybe on newer injection systems, but not TBI stuff.

Thanks for the info, does this mean i need to replace the ECM chip for a programmable one? The downer is a 1991 Suburban that had a 700r4 transmission, so i pulled everything possible except the transmission which was sold to someone who needed it worst then me, got tired of automatics anyways. Still working the bugs out.

You can go a couple of different ways with the chip. If you don't want to modify the ECM with a new chip socket, you can still get the original style chips burned. If you think you'll be learning to tune it yourself, I'd go with the new socket, but if it already runs pretty well and you just need minor changes, just get a stock style chip burned.

Do you already have it up and running? Are you using a VSS or EGR?

Yes, I am using the VSS, and EGR, although the EGR needs to be replaced (vacuum leak), and yes, it is running, but I'm having problems with highway speeds, does good up to 55-60 mph, then it loses power and i cant get over 65. 60 to 65 in 10 seconds sucks.
I may have problems on the fuel pick up, as i am using the fuel pump, and sending unit from the downer truck which had a 50 gal tank, and the Blazer has a 20 gal tank.

You definitely want to make sure you've fixed all of the mechanical issues before you bother trying to tune it. Otherwise you'll just be chasing your tail.
