4.3 ecm on a bigger engine

What do I need to do to use an ecm off a 4.3 v6 on a v8? I have been searching and searching and I found one thing that says just need to swap both chips with ones from a v8? I have another ecm that came off a a v8 truck and has a hypertech chip in it but it apparently isn't a very popular ecm cause I found little info on it. So I just went to a junkyard and took the ecm from a truck with a v6 thinking it wouldn't matter. Now I read somewhere that it wont work? Im confused. Please straighten me out! Thanks!

Figured I better mention a few more things. I will be tuning this with a the apu1. I am new to all this and trying to learn but at times it seems like there is just so much info out there that I experience information overload. The ECM I plan to use is the 7747 but I also have a 16171199

To run the 7747 on a v8, you will need a v8 "limp home chip" (the smaller of the two) then the main eprom can be reprogrammed with a v8 bin file. Then you will be all set.
