Like most things, you can spend as much as you want to. Most people building high levels of power run a 454 throttle body does to it's larger flow capacity. It is my opinion that an In-tank fuel pump would be superior, I believe that models similar to the Airtex E2000 are popular for this. There is also a modification that was done on another thread with a modified fuel pump module to overcome the fact that your factory pump probably doesn't have any baffles.

Thanks I am considering that. I got the 5.7 tbi because I read that the 454 tbi had idle issues

I have a 454 Throttle Body on my 93 K1500 / 5.7 liter / 4L60E, which has a very similar harness and ECU you have posted. I custom tuned (programmed) my own chip, so no, I don't have idle issues! Best I can figure, there could be some WRONG information about 454 Throttle Bodies? Heck, the money I saved using a 454 Throttle Body vs. the cost of a custom bored 350 throttle was HUGE!

I would recommend using a frame mounted fuel pump the 1985-1989 Ford F150 Electric Fuel Pump ... sometimes called the E2000 (Airtex part number) fuel pump.

i contacted tbi chips and was told that my setup was to powerful for a tbi to stay carbed.
What is the tuning limits of a 454 tbi?
