    Chip Burner Question

    So the other day I was shopping for SST chips on eBay (a dangerous pastime with all the fakes out there) and I stumbled upon this;

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/USB-SP300U-P...item2ed355cd44

    Would this work instead of a Burn1 or Burn2. I dont want to step on any toes, I know that Moates is very popular, if need be I can delete this thread.

    Because of the "Fakes" I decided to buy a chip programmer that will burn "Fakes". http://www.batronix.com/shop/program...rogrammer.html

    http://www.newark.com/batronix/bx32-...-ii/dp/53M6868

    "Fakes" (Winbond (http://www.winbond.com/hq/enu), Greenliant (http://www.greenliant.com/products/) ) are not faulty chips. "Fakes" are commonly thought of as chips that will not work with Moates.net equipment. Windbond and Greenliant chips are GOOD chips! Most times the "Fakes" that are 90ns will work with the Moates.net equipment.

    Maybe the product in the link you posted will work with Windbond and Greenliant? I'm posting a link to a chip burner that I know works.

    I had read that Winbond chips were good, but apparently used an obscure erase voltage thus making them non-compatible with the Moates burners. I'm not sure that my familiarity with this process if such that I would trust myself to buy something unproven. It seems the only thing worse than over paying for the necessary hardware would be buying it twice.

    I bought my moates burn 1 from ebay for 30 something, so they do periodically show up. I think between the chip, chip adapters, homemade aldl cable and cheap burner I am into it for less than $60.

    That's a heck of a deal! I've been watching ebay for them, but used Moates parts seem to be as rare as hen's teeth

    Dave would that burner burn chips from moates as well? I'd rather get the ostrich and burner seperate from the moates autoprom. even though its cheaper to get the autoprom id still rather have 2 separte units for various reasons.

    Yes The BX32 Batupo II has many features ... ever try to read a 4K or 32K file from a 64K chip? Ever mistakenly burn a 2732b with 2732a voltage? With the BX32 Batupo II it's easy to set the necessary read offsets. The BX32 Batupo II will prevent damage to the 2732b if the wrong voltage is used.

    I actually own a Burn 2 and Ostrich 2.0, both are great products!

    i use an old $20 willem programmer with no case off ebay and a TOP programmer .the willem has been going strong for years burnt thousands of varying chips its become my backup burner after i got the TOP as the TOP was more portable with it being in a case and only needing usb.GQX-4 is another good unit will burn nearly anything

    I had the dual power Willems programmer as well, still have it somewhere. IIRC it started ruining EEPROMs on me and is why I bought my GQ-3X, which is the same as the 4X, just without a case.

    I also have a BURN2 and APU1, so I have many programmers for EEPROMs. I prefer the BURN2 or APU1, when using the SST27SF512 EEPROMS for automotive tuning, since the software automatically sets up the offsets, and in my book that's worth the extra money right there.

    I use the GQ-3X also with no problems at all. MCUmall also has chips available for $3.95 us.
