Need advice for very simple system.

I need a simple module (If there is one) for my experimental helicopter engine.
Each ECU (2) will control 2 cylinders (Firing at the same time) at a constant speed with governor (8,000 rpm hovering, 4,000 rpm cruise) using a 2 speed transmission. Helicopters have to maintain a steady rotor speed.
Unfortunately these GM units look heavy but I can probably shave weight with lighter housing.
Any suggestions on what to use?
I just stumbled on this site which looks promising.

This in essence is similar to a single cylinder lawnmower application.

The MEFI units are waterproof and small. There are older versions that can be found used.

This is just my opinion, but I was in Army helicopter maintenance for 22 years and have my A&P, so I have some relevant knowledge. I wouldn't use any component on an aircraft that isn't tried and true. You can't always autorotate your way out of a bad situation if something that hasn't been rigorously ground & flight tested fails on you.

There was a thread some time ago by an individual asking about using GM automotive components on aircraft. While we offered help, I also posted links to threads and pages from some years ago when an experienced pilot attempted to use GM efi on a Subaru engine powered aircraft. Sadly, one of the links was the FAA investigation of the fatal crash which occurred during initial takeoff. :(

Yeah, there's a saying that aviation regulations are written in blood and there's a lot of truth in that.

Thanks for all the information. Keep it coming.
    About the helicopter engine project:
The reason for it is to use twin engines so one can totally fail without any power loss.
This is why the transmission. Two engines running you use half the rpm/hp. One engine running you use twice the rpm and hp to compensate and get you out of trouble.
The engine is designed to be used till it fails. Well half fails.
Still in the building stage. My testing will be tethered since no need for altitude.

our custom aussie code for 1227165 just had seperate baro sensor added due to someone wanting to use it for some form of flying vehicle and needed better baro compensation than just the standard baro update at wot worth a look people are running twin ecu's on v12's and with a cheap serial switch realtime tuning both ecu's make a change to one ecu tune flip the switch upload change to 2nd ecu back and fowards
