    Black box pcm data

Where is the o/s and pcm ID stored in a black box vortec pcm? I can find vin, but the structure is much different then ls style pcms. I have the pcm id from the sticker on pcm, as well as hpt reads most of it out(2 digits it replaces with # for some reason), but I cant find it in the bin. Same with the o/s, does not appear to be in the bin. Anyone played with these much?

There is a partial disassembly around the 'net. I believe it was posted to thirdgen.org a few years back by montecarslow. Maybe it has some clues?

Attached is a pic of the information I can get from a Black Box PCM using my Road Runner software. If you post a .bin file, maybe I can help?

Road Runner id's segment 6 as vin, which makes sense as to its position. HPT just says 0 for segment 6. Getting pretty comfortable with mapping out ls1 stuff and thought how hard could it be? lol

I found the below locations for each segment. Unlike the 0411 software the values are not entered in ansi text with the exception of the vin, they are in actual hex value(not sure I have said this right as not a programmer but hope it gets message across). I have found the hex value 86CM, the first 4 digits of my pcm id, but the values after do not continue. Still no luck on figuring out pcm id.

    Operating System 20005
    Engine Cal 8005
    Fuel System Cal E657
    System Cal EF99
    Speedometer Cal F0D7
    Vin 14908
    Transmission Cal F1FF

    I might not be correct?

    I'm thinking most 98 ~ 99 Black Box PCM's have about a 318k file size?

The posted .bin file is 512k file size.

The VCM number identified by Road Runner is 16263494, with some Google searching showing that 16263494 is a LS1b PCM?

I would welcome the opportunity to read your Black Box PCM with my Road Runner software.

    I don't have any .bin files from a 1999. The attached .tun is from a 1999 S-10.

Maf, Vin, Open and Closed throttle timing. Anyone familiar with tunerpro know why I have to add an extra column to get the table to work out? There should be 19 columns but table does not work out correctly until I add 1 more, the last column data is not part of the table, the rest works out perfectly. Still no luck finding the pcm id.

I don't think the pcm id is contained within the .bin. Im going to get a junkyard pcm to play with, write a different file in and see if it changes.

I have not digged into the binary of a blackbox, but I think it has a separate EEPROM memory where the PCM ID and other info are stored.
