    Windows Password Clear/reset?

I did this once before on a Vista laptop I got from the thrift store. Got another really nice HP DV6000 Spaecail Edition entertainment laptop but it has a password at start up.

I got this for $15 a few weeks before my extended hospital stage. Thought I'd upgrade the wifes PC... right now it may get sold to catch up some billls from last few months of no income and plenty of medical co-pays!

How do you blank it or change it?

I always use a password utility like this:
    http://pogostick.net/~pnh/ntpasswd/
Dowload iso and burn to cd. Boot from CD and follow instructions on screen.

Addendum: I usually blank the password with this utility instead of changing it. I had mixed results with changing the password. Worked fine to just blank it and reboot pc off the hard drive. You can add a password back after you log in.

it's a windows password and not a bios password? if it's a windows password, reboot into safe mode with command prompt (hit f8 while booting) and see if the adminstrator account works without a password. then:

    net user eaglemark /add
    net localgroup Administrators eaglemark /add
    net localgroup Users eaglemark /delete

after you reboot you should have an eaglemark account with no password on it
