Data logging with tuner pro and auto prom question

So I finally got around to trying to log some data on my truck and I have a couple questions.

First, it seems the data stream hz is pretty slow like 1hz. Is there anyway to increase this or is this all it's capable off.

Second when I Unplugged the data cable from the truck the idle speed changes and when I plug it back in it changes again. Is this normal?? Is there a sequence for hooking up the auto prom, cable, and computer?

Thanks for any help you can give me

you haven't really told us what your truck is, or what ecm it runs, so we'll have to guess

if it's TBI, then yes, it has a very slow data rate.

also if you have an ALDL cable and stuff changes when you plug it in, there's probably a jumper you have to take off.

The data rate should be higher, typically between 8 Hz and 11 Hz, in most cases I've seen.

As far as the idle speed change, you have one of the two switches set to 10K. When this is done, some ECMs will go into an "ALDL diagnostic mode" that is usually set with a higher idle speed, kinda as a way of confirming connection. This may also be related to your low data logging rate.

    My bad.

    Its a 87 3/4 chevy 4x4. 350tbi 400 trans

    1227747 ECM

Using tuner pro with the auto prom.

I know the auto prom has the switch for the 10k resistor which I have in the on position

1hz is actually what the data stream rate should be for a '7747. And yes, that's slow as hell :D

its useable, but you need to do lots of very long logs and do averages and plotting with spreadsheets or whatever to get useful data. when i tuned my tbi ecm, i did hours of datalogging and spent hours on sorting that data into useable stuff, and running averages, etc.

yes and these ecu's that command locked timing and high idle rpm when in 10k mode need the bin edited before logging set dianostic mode forced advance rpm limit low like 900 rpm or all the blm data under the stock set point will be bad data normally 2000rpm limited

So I'm a little confused on what needs to be done while data logging. What parts of the cal need to be changed?
    Thanks for the help guys

    Might have mis understood.

I was was asking what do I need to change in the cal so it doesn't lock the spark in 10k mode.

Or Can I communicate without the 10k resistance??

You don't need the 10K resistor, that is only for the '165, and only for specific data.
