Old mechanic looking at learning new skills

    Hello All.
Retired for many years enjoying building and cursing. Spent most of my working years bustin my knuckles on diesel engines. Built every kind of engine from gas to diesel. Now it's time to shut up all the naysayers in my club saying to me "you will NEVER get engine to run right" or "Just put a carb on that thing" or Just buy a FAST system" NOPE, ain't gonna do it! I'm determined to get this LT1 with stock GM fuel injection to run and run damn good. That is, with the help of a lot of people that know what their doing. Building a 1939 MOOR DOOR. Tired of cramming myself, the wife and dog and all of HER clothes into a coupe. Then FedExing our clothes and stuff back home cause of NO ROOM. Glad to be here.

I would start with a 94 or 95 OBDI PCM as it is more easily tuned with cheaper equipment and being OBDI has less complexity. You are going to be modifying or replacing the harness anyway so it makes sense to eliminate the rear o2 sensors, canister pressure sensor, and other unused components.

You will love the torque of that LT1 in that 4 door. I would love to get my hands on a 4 door cadillac about the same year as your chevy and do the same thing.

Thanks Fast355. I take it you've got a 355 also. I've replaced the harness with a custom one, replaced the PCM with a 95 unit, 1618805 BMFP. I'm just learning how to tune with TunerPro and pulling my hair out. Trying to figure out EXACTLY how to turn thing like VATS etc. off. I understand that it's done with a switch, but for the life of me I can't see any check mark boxes or on/off switches. I assume I have to change a bit value, but not sure where or how I do it.

That would be GREAT Steve. I know how busy people are so I'm happy to pay you for your time and expertise.

i don't need money, i refuse to be a tune-by-mail guy, but a donated 94-95 ECM would be wicked if you ever come across a cheap one.

see the pm on the other forum for what i require from you, just post it here.
