hey everyone..having trouble with tunerproRT and my 16197427 ECM

when i open TunerPro and goto Data Acquisition Plugin Config and test for a valid interface it says "Cable Found and Functioning"..
I'm using the 2 transistor hookup..and the bin file for BJYN ..which i understand is $OD Mask

So i'm ata loss for what's wrong..
do i need to have the engine running before i can see basic chitchat from ECM ?
and also do i need to put the 10K resistor between pins A and B.

or is the way that i'm trying to connect..which is the following..

hooked everything up to the ECM test port pin A(GND) and pin M aldl and Laptop( also tried desktop computer) and then opened TunerPro and turned the key on.

The boxes at the bottom of tuner pro always stay as "Not Emulating" , "Hardware Not Found" , "Not Ready" and "DA; Not Connected".

i have a circuit that uses the MAX232 with a 1k resistor from pin 11 with a 1N914 signal diode hooked to pin 12( was backwards on the schematic had to reverse it to get a valid interface connection) and the cathode tied back to the other end of the 1K res and then run to pin M on the ECM test port.
this circuit failed to work as well.

Do i also need to load an .adx file Like A218 Trans1 $0D TP5 v250.adx or A218 Trans2 $0D TP5 v250.adx which i found on this site
what am i doing wrong?

"Not Emulating" , -The USB emulator was not found or is mis configured
"Hardware Not Found" ,- SAME
"Not Ready" and
"DA; Not Connected". - You didn't click the two blue arrows (left-right)

The serial cable you made is just for datalogging. (DA)
