What vehicles came with a 2.5-3in pitch fan.

I am going to install a severe duty fan clutch on my 78 k20. In order for the fan clutch to work properly there needs to be enough drag on the clutch. I am going to the junkyard to look for a fan with a 2.5 -3in pitch. I need to know what gm vehicles to look at that might have these steeper pitch fans. That way i dont wonder around the whole yard. My guess is that most cars are out of the question. Thanks.

Actually don't overlook the station wagon and special service cars like cop cars and commercial chassis Cadillacs especially with big blocks. Also probably find something like that in a G30 Van or Motorhome. Also 1-ton dually trucks, war wagon suburbans, P30 stepvans, etc.

so i went to the junkyard today and found a 7 blade fan clutch setup off of a truck but it only had a 2 in pitch. i did find this suburban with from what i could measure a 2.5-3in pitch. It had 7 blades i think. The problem is my junkyard wants $40 for a used 30 year old fan clutch setup. I can buy a new fan blade and standard duty clutch for that price. They also will not seperate just the fan from the clutch. Sounds to me like they do not want to make money. I would rather put on a new clutch from the store with a warranty and put on a used fan. I would buy a new fan but i cannot find any online. Also the fan from the suburban looked like some kind of flex fan hybrid. The ends of the blades were thin metal that flexed but the rest was solid. I do not think i want that.

Flexalite sells several sizes of clutch fans: http://www.flex-a-lite.com/belt-driv...t_fan_type=119 You can look up their part numbers at Summit or Jegs once you find the one you want.

A new standard duty non thermal fan clutch and fan for $40.98 although you could add $10 for a standard duty thermal for $50.98

none of the flex a lite fans are rated for a severe duty clutch

Sorry, missed the part about not rated for severe duty.

I may have the fan you want. It is the original one from my 79 GMC Dually w/454. It has a newer severe duty clutch (little over a year old), and I believe is a 7-blade, 19.5" diameter fan. The newer 454 I put in it has a serpentine drive so I had to go to a reverse rotation fan and clutch.

I am Interested. If you could give me the measurement that are in the picture below that would be great. you dont have to measure the angle unless you have a protractor or something. Thanks

Referencing the picture you posted, here are the dimensions.
Diameter is 19.5", with seven blades, clutch has the dual bolt pattern so it will fit most water pumps.
Width is 4", Height is 2" and angle looks to be 30 degrees. The blades are curved so it may be off a little.

Here is the fan for reference:

I might be interested. Who makes the fan clutch and what is your asking price? Also what gear ratio is the truck? Thanks. You can pm me if you want.
