i'm certain i've seen an arduino/AVR that writes CSVs to a SD card from data it grabs over ALDL. i want to say one of the aussie guys came up with it?

Look for older scantools. Even better... GM used to have a tape recorder that could record data and play it back!

I would be very interested in some thing like that but I have no idea what to do when it comes to coding.

I rolled my own.. wrote the software.. used raspberry pi. hundreds of hours invested. under 100 in hardware including dash display. fun times.

it had wireless.. connected automatically when I got home analysed and uploaded data to my laptop.

not for the faint of heart

I did it because there is no such thing you can just buy

    actually wait

    there is

    old cellphone with aldldroid.. done

    I would

steveo what u made is exactly what im looking for lol. im not new to computers just coding how hard would it be to mod what u have made into a simple black box that puts all the data on a flash drive and have it be readable by tunerpro? I know you have a ton of time in this. so any info to point me in the right direction would help

Back in the mid 80's there was a company MPSI out of Sterling Heights MI that had the tape recorder for OBD-1. GM had the CAMS machine but the box that plugged into the ALDL had a button the driver had to push when a malfunction occurred. Both are extinct. MPSI tape recorder had to be loaded into a "computer". A XT from IBM with a 5 1/4 inch floppy drive. Bet ya don't even remember them things?

trivial with fair linux skills. I would be glad to help you. no code necessary but some config files and writing a definition.

there's some pretty good instructions i wrote up right here you might want to read in advance http://fbodytech.com/aldlrpi.html

since it isnt an LT1 you'll have to write a definition file, but i can help with that part.
