I6 Conversion, Bin to start with?

Next week I am going to be helping out a friend. He has a mid 70's Toyota FJ40 with a 4.2L inline 6. He already installed a TBI from a 4.3 V6, '7747 ECU. I don't have the bin number. He was told some changes had been made to the chip to run on the Toy engine. It idles too high and doesn't run that well overall. I will start with reading the chip with my Burn2 and then getting a data log.

I have been reading up on sync/async issues with the V6 bin's and it sounds like a V8 bin is a better starting point? ASDU?

I am looking for suggestions on I6 conversions, what works, what doesn't, etc.

    Thanks.

I suppose you could run the v8 asdu bin but you will have to change the cylinder count and prolly a few other parameters to make it right. I dont have any personal exp with v6 tuning so dont take what I say as gospel.

Yup, I always start my 11227747 ECM conversions with ASDU for Auto and ADSX for Manual. I know there's an Internet rule to pick one that closely matches the engine/trans combination but in the end... you end up with a better running engine with less issues this way.
