    1320 Electronics ALDL Bluetooth dongle

I was curious if anyone here is using the ALDL bluetooth unit from 1320 Electronics. I am thinking about this unit because it has a longer cord then Red rivers so it would be easier to mount/hide. Or does red river offer a longer cable?

I would rather support the guy here (red river I think yes?)

I've had a few email exchanges with John (1320 Eletronics). He's a really nice guy. I know he tested his adapter with ALDLdroid and it works great. Timm (Red devil river) is also a really nice guy, sent me a few adapters to test my app with and what not. So, I would go with whatever fits your needs really :)

Ok so I have it up and running using ALDLdroid with the $42-1227747-V5.2.ADX file (recommended by EagleMark) and the 1320 ALDL adapter. everything appears to be working except the refresh rate is way slow. it is only refreshing every second (gauges only move once every second). I saw 1320 youtube video using his adapter with the ALDLdroid app and his was refreshing like 6=8 times a second.

    Any ideas?

Just to clarify are you the creator of the ALDLdroid app 3400tz?

    Yes I'm!

1 read second over Bluetooth is what you will get for a 160 baud ECU with any software. Maybe a tad better with USB but not much. That's an ECU limitation, not the app. It is indeed pretty slow :)

    First off great app!

Do you know if it will be quicker on the 7730 ECU? I really would like to use this real time.

I am still reading thru all 60 pages of the ALDLdroid thread but I am wondering if you have an definitions or descritpion of all the choice in the list of the items you can display? For instance is there anyway to tell when the TC is in Lock up? That would be nice.

Never mind, I found the TCC option...AWESOME! the TCC is important with a loaded down suburban climbing mountain grades it helps me keep the tranny cool and gets the best possible MPG.

Aside from the ECU not being faster then 1 per sec still a great app and ALDL adapter.

The '7730 is a 8192 baud ECU so yes its faster, around 7-8 reads per second over Bluetooth.

I wish I could somehow make the 160 baud ECU faster but the app cannot get the data before the ECU send it unfortunately :)

I had sent an email over to John at 1320 and got the same response. Both of you guys have been great on this. It's not a big deal. I do like the fact it tells me when the TCC is locked that's nice. I was not expecting a vacuum gauge either. This will work just perfect. Like I said I will be putting a 7730 in when I do my TPI swap this winter so it will work.

Thanks for the response on this.

Also I would like to add I think this app offers more information and (viewing) tunability over a lot of OBDII apps I have seen. Maybe offer different color options in the future?

Yeah, that's the request I get the most, allow to change color of the indicators. I guess I will have to see what I can do about that eventually :)
