    Spark table questions

    Greeting all,

Working on my timing tables, 92 Corvette LT1 using $DA2. I have made a few data logs. I have noticed spark retard in about the same RPM and load in each log. I have reviewed the logs in the monitor and with trace on.

I guess my questions are. Is it best to adjust the table only in the cells the spark is being retarded in during the event (from 1-4 connecting cells) or just the cell the retard started in?

Also would you start out removing 1 degree at a time until the retard goes away?

I also noticed the timing tables in 3D look rough. Should I use the smoothing tool on them like the VE tables?

    Thanks for your help!

i'd remove 2 degrees from the cell that the knock count increased in (probably the same one that the spark retard started in) then 1 degree from each of the surrounding cells, then log again to see how it works.

probably not a great idea; best to do that smoothing manually. but why dont you post it up and we'll have a look to see what you mean by "rough"?

i only do it in the cell it started from, and at the minimum possible decrement(with most PCMs, .35*, but i think with the LT1, it is in 1* increments?)

Thanks for your reply. Here is screenshots of my spark tables. When I look at them they seem rough compared to the VE tables. This maybe normal.

lt1 has a timing resolution of 0.5 degrees, both in reference pulse and in table resolution; and since there's one slot in the optical sensor per half-degree, those aren't interpolated or anything.. when you add 0.5 degrees of timing, it's 0.5 at the cam, period.

Here is screenshots of my spark tables.
imo those spark tables are just fine as far as smoothness goes.
