    throttle position sensor

will the TPS from say the 89 TBI work with the PCM from say 93 ? i am getting an error code and the sensor seems to be reading correctly. starts off at .6 volts and goes up to about 4.5 volts at WOT.

no i dont have a scope but i used a volt meter and i worked the throttle slowly and it didnt seem to have any dead spots. the dtc was 21 . the tunerpro was reading .1 volts if i remember correctly does that sound write to you? i am going to put the computer on my other truck to see what it reads and if the throttle meter moves when i push the throttle. just about ever gauge on the tunerpro is reading wrong. even the temp gauge reads -33.3. this weekend i am going through all the wiring again and make sure the connector pins are getting good connection with the computer and i will get a new TPS that one is old anyhow and sat in the junkyard for how long.

So where did .1 come from?

Something is wrong if all your readings are off!

Now if you had the TPS removed and were testing the voltages you can get it to go to far and set an error code. If the TPS is not mounted it could... read as low as 0v to as high as 5.0v but don't count on it.

Volt meter usually works well, slow and wiggle while checking, some DVM are better then others as far as accuracy and speed. But still don't compare to scope.

Check connections as well! One little glitch from loose connection and POOF! error code set...
