and how much money do you think i will have invested by the time i buy all the hardwareand download all the software then get to tuning?
Less than $150 for a Chip, Memory adapter, ZIF Socket and Chip Programmer. Software is freeware.

how long do you think it will take to get a basic tune down?
Im an extremely fast learner when everything is hands on.
im just scared im going to blow something up before i even get to test it haha
i have a good mechanical background, absolutely no tuning background.

you can pay a guy to do it too

this is the kind of thing, if learning to tune would make you happy and would be a fun hobby, do it

but otherwise if it just makes you nervous and you aren't really into computers or electronics, you can just send your ecm and harness to someone that has done this hundreds of times, and pay him a couple hundred bucks, done.

I am a nerd ass with computers and electronics, lol i just hate going into things blind.

just like when i first open up photoshop.... Yeah i said fuck this lol.... But a good 25 tutorials later, it taught me a HUGE amount of knowledge and now i can go into photoshop and build anything lol

Thats why i asked if there were pic tutorials because it would help me out tons.

and if i learn to tune, i would be able to make my money back in no time since i live in vegas lol

that's the last thing you should worry about. its actually very hard to grenade an engine while tuning; as long as you remember to start rich and lower in timing advance at first... just like you would with carb&distributor. being rich and retarded never hurt an engine (in the short term)

I am more talking about grenading it from turning a stock 350 7,000 rpm.

Where did i ever say it was a stock tbi 350?

its the same motor as the gmpp crate 350/330hp with different heads.

Just another reason that you should tune it. A stock tune leaves a lot on the table for the engine it was intended for, let alone something that breathes better. If you're into electronics and computers the actual ability to set up the hardware and software shouldn't take you long at all. Then all you need to do is make logical changes in making changes and you'll be tuning in no time.

Thats still not a 7,000 rpm engine. Stock spring will probably give you valve float above 5,500. I think GM recomeends no more than 5,600 rpm on that engine. I am pulled my L31 with aftermarket heads, much stronger valve springs and bigger cam to 6,500 on a chassis dyno but it peaks at about 5,900 and I shift it at 6,200.
