There's a guy that has been doing TBI conversions on off roaders for years and putting the 1227747 ECM under hood. The only time anyone has had issues is when ECM was completely wet. They all get splashed, he's been putting a rubber flap over them to keep splash off. Just no room under dash in Jeeps or Toyota Land Crusiers for an ECM.

But for a MC the size alone of a GM ECM is hard to deal with.

i have room though, this isnt a sportbike. i have about a cubic foot of wasted space for the stock airbox and battery, and a compartment behind the seat that's damn near big enough to put an ecm in too.

also not too worried about weather, keeing the environment from killing electronics is well within my capabilities

there aren't really any good hackable bike ecms as far as i can tell, they're pretty much all ROM with fixed fueling maps, but i should do more research.

an ideal platform for a catch-all bike ecm would be sequential capable, so it could have individual cyl. fuel trims, which is very important for air cooled v-twins, as the rear cylinder runs much hotter than the front one. this doesnt apply to mine, which is parallel twin, but it'd be nice to do this in a way that would handle another bike if i wreck this one..

so, a SFI 4-cylinder unit? unless you have a goldwing or one of the neat straight-6 japanese bikes from the late 70s/early 80s?

I think the MegaSquirt-Micro Squirt would be a more user friendly choice.
