    1987 v-10

Switched over my 305 to a 350 GM Crate motor with 260hp/350tq. I received my Moates equipment and installed the adapter and Zif socket. I burned my first prom using a stock AFBW bin that seemed to match my gearing and tranny set-up. Just wanted to see if you guys have any input on this bin. I will do some data logging this weekend and post some info. My MAIN goal is to have it as fuel efficient as possible after all save some gas so I can buy more fishing equipment....lol

I am running ASDU in my 87 v-10 350. It runs pretty good, and there is a lot of commented source code for it as well as some starter tuning hacks. go to the 7747 page and check it out. There is also a highway cruise mode enabled bin, but I would wait until your tune was dialed in to try that.

Thank you for the info. I will burn that bin and get started. I am ready to get this baby tuned up. I had been running the stock 305 bin with the new 350 and 350 injectors and lets just say I thought I had a hole in the tank. It has been getting 11-12 mpg. That just takes the joy out of a stock daily driver and I REALLY like the truck.

Your MPG issue is largely timing, IMO. That older engine design and older smog head with its 8:1 compression ratio is going to want a massive amount more timing than the TBI is programmed for. So much so that I would advance the distributor to 6-8* maybe as much as 10*. I have run as much as 16-18* initial timing and 38-40* of total timing on 87 octane gas in those engines with as much as 50* of cruise timing at 3,000 rpm. Even my vortec likes as much as 40-42* of timing at light throttle cruise around 2,200 rpm. Without physically moving the distributor, you will not be able to run more than 42* of timing. At 6* you can run 48* and 10* you can run 52*. At 3,000 rpm, say 30-40 KPA that engine is going to want 46+ advance.

Hmm...this is good info, I just installed this same engine...someone should post some good starter timing tables or bins ...but @Fast355 are you saying that we should set the initial at 10* and leave the bin alone or to set it at 10* and set that in the bin and that should adjust the table closer to the 52* totals...? We need more details to help sciroc.

Just bump the initial timing. That is all I have ever done on the older engines I have retrofitted to TBI/TPI. The Timing tables in the TBI ECM are so lame you could easily crank the timing to 8*, possibly even 10* BTDC on 87 octane. With DCR in the low 7s, the engine will want the extra initial timing for cold start.

I would bump it up to 8*, monitor the knock retard and adjust the fueling to start with.

I will start working on the timing. I think I will leave the base set at 0* and just work on the timing tables on tunerpro. Thank you for the info
