2002 4.8 engine, harness, and pcm

Picked up a complete 4.8 engine out of an 02 chevy 1/2 ton 4wd pickup from a local seller. Truck had frame damage and was totalled but engine ran great. 64k miles on the truck odometer and looks like new inside valve covers but I havent had a chance to pull the oil pan yet. All accesories on engine except a/c compressor. Even had exhaust manifolds and starter on it. I got all of the underhood harness to the firewall plug and the pcm. I picked it up for 600 bucks. Next project after the jeep build will be hopefully dropping this into a 1970 Triumph TR6. Triumph was pretty quick with the little 152 CI straight 6, so the little 4.8 should be really fun in it. I have the engine on a stand in storage. Most bare engines with well over 100K go for $500 - $600 here with no harness or pcm. PCM is a 09354896. Not done anything on OBD2 stuff yet and will have to get a cable and software soon. Hopefully this was a decent price I paid.

Edit. Forgot to ask the question... What are the recommendations on software/cable for tuning this thing when I do a cam/intake change? It may even get a couple of small turbos at a later date. I know there are pros and cons to each software like EFI Live, TunerCats etc.

TunerCats OBDII was sold to JET, so its not available from Tunercats.

I would recommend downloading EFI Live and take it for a test drive. https://www.efilive.com/latest/cat/download-efilive

There are .tun files available for EFI Live at Tune File Depot : http://www.tunefiledepot.com/

Sounds like a great price on the package and sure going to make that TR6 a fun drive!

You'll be spending more then that for OBDII tuning software though... EFI Live is the way to go for people with one vehicle as the per licensing.

Looks as though the engine is earlier than 2002. It has egr and pcm # is for 99-00. I didn't look at vin on truck or door sticker. Still think I got a good deal. Gonna be a while before I get a chance to work on the car anyway. Mark, will the cables you were taking orders for work with EFI Live and possibly the LS1 flash program that antus is working on?
