Anybody 3.8 buick v6 carb to efi, jeep guys?

Hey i'm new to the forum wondering if anyone knows my best route to swap efi onto 1980 olds cutlass with 3.8 buick v6.
I have lots of ideas but not much cash want to swap it without tuning for now (still learning)

    does this sound do-able?

    1989-91 s10 blazer 4.3 harness, ecu, sensors.
1986 buick v6 3.8 7 pin hei distributor in cap coil to trigger it.
Keep in mind i want it to run as is for now may run without vss

is this possible... done alot of research but don't want to shoot in dark.
Any better ideas? better computer to use?

I think I would go with a Chevy 4.3 Liter 1227747 ECM and harness (1987 ~ 1990). I would reprogram the PROM chip spark table with a table cloned from a 3.8 Buick V6 PROM chip. I would also reprogram 1227747 PROM chip for 3.8 liters, and tune the VE table as needed. The 1227747 can operate without a VSS, the "PARK" switch input needs to be grounded so the ECM thinks the vehicle is in "PARK" all the time.

I think there will be need to design a special TBI throttle body adapter plate. The 80 Buick V6 used a 2 barrel Dual Jet carburetor, which does not line up the the TBI throttle bores.

See attached pics of my Buick 3.8 Liter fuel injection project.

Was there any 3.8L TBI intakes available? Maybe he'd be better of going straight to MPFI if that intake is available?

The buick 4.1 has a four barrel intake, it's the 3.8 big brother uses a quadrajet. i have that intake so making the adaptor no big deal.

That is a sweet setup though looks like alot of time involved...
my project is a zombie apocalypse throw together not worried about pretty just cheap and simple!

car had 31,000 when i got it like 8 years ago for 700
toy with it here and there was supposed to help me learn about carbs but i think i found out they stink the long way. car has 60,000 now and is bedlinered to the factory pinstripe, being lifted via caprice springs, fabbing up jeep bumpers front and back.
Want my kids to have fun at car shows without killing the bank... no fun to have just the normal car hopped up and be moderately fast but hey... 80 cutlass jacked up, bedlined, jeep bumpers, zombie theme probably turn some heads. plus serve as their first learner car, don't have to worry bout them wrecking it... adds charactor

The intake shown is from a Buick Grand National ($$$.$$) ... more $$$.$$ than he paid for the car.

The 1986 Buick Electra 3.8 ECM is MPFI / MAF, I highly recommend using the timing table from the 86 Electra, which is perfect for the 1980 Olds 3.8 Liter!

The timing table and fuel table from a 4.3 Liter will get the Buick 3.8 Liter running, but not that great.

i do want to learn to tune, i'm just worried that if i need to use the car it will be not driveable till i get it tuned right, but if it will run better than the crap carb setup i'm diving in gives me time to figure out what tuning system etc research more. what all do i need to tune/learn. seems tuner pro is big

Attached are a few files that will help start the tune learning process.

The latest TunerPro RT can be downloaded here: http://tunerpro.net/downloadApp.htm

    After downloading TunerPro RT
    Open the attached .xdf file
    Open the attached .bin file
    Load the attached .adx file
Play back the attached .xdl file

.xdf file ... is the definition file ... the attached .xdf file is for the 1227747 ECM ... $42
.bin file ... is the actual programming in the PROM chip ... the attached .bin file is for a 1987 Van 5.7 liter / 700R4
.adx file ... is the data logging definition file ... the attached .adx file is for the 1227747 ... $42
.xdl file ... is a recorded data log ... yes someone was driving a vehicle with the data being recorded

    Now the fun stuff:
Find knock in the data log ... fix it by changing the spark table in the .bin
Find Rich / Lean in the data log ... fix by changing the fuel table or BPW in the .bin

To eliminate the EGR ... change the .bin file EGR parameters

Might take a few weekends of study / homework?
