    3764 Intake and EGR

The EGR on my 91 is laid out differently than the port that is on this intake. I needed a new one anyway so buying another really doesn't bother me. Question is, can I use the EGR off a 1990 TBI 454 and be ok, or do I also need to change something in the bin?

On the top of the EGR valve there are numbers telling what type of EGR it is. Back Pressure or non Back pressure, ect. The service manual really explains this well. I Take it you want to use a 1990 454 EGR valve on your 91 454. It could work if the same type is used. I would use new gaskets since they are notorious for drawing in air. If the EGR causes the engine to surge I would make a plate out of thin 0.100" alum and place it under the EGR using 2 gaskets. Drill 3 small holes in the plate where it can be used as a restrictor plate. This will reduce the Volume of EGR to the engine or you can open it up. You could try this in the calibration but for EGR I would use this.
We unscrewed the bottom of the EGR to add more volume or screw in the base to reduce the volume. This only works when the valves are NEW and I have broken the seat doing this on older EGR valves. This base is how they flow them for the appilactions at the plants. One vale will work on several applications this way.
When you have the EGR off the intake look for excess carbon. A oxy-acel torch burns the carbon off very nice but takes some practice doing this.

Thanks Billy, Not sure if it's a port style or Negative pressure. I believe it's a port style EGR. I'll look at it today. Still need to do some parts collecting so it'll be a few weeks before I do the swap.
