    EGR removal tune?

Tuning a freinds truck with tuner Pro rt.. Its a 1996 GM 1500 4x4 and Im using the Advanced $0d xdf and its a 7427 BJYL bin etc.. He has recently removed the egr and I would like to know what parameters/Flags etc to turn off or modify? Appreciate the help guys its been a few years since ive tuned a TBI system. Thanks again..

Oh and for some reason I cannot get tunerpro RT to connect to the ecm to datalog? It does recognize the cable and I have the right usb port etc. But it wont connect? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I'm confused 1996 is OBD II? To delete the EGR, I set the minimum temperature to enable EGR to Maximum, 151 C.

There were no crossover models ... it's either an OBD-I 1995, or an OBD-II 1996. Take a look under the hood at the top of driver side inner fender ... if there is a black box PCM with 4 plugs in it, then it is a 1996 OBD-II vehicle.

Ive already stated that its a 7427 ecm.. That would mean that it is OBD-1 etc.. But it is registerd as a 1996 truck. IF it was OBD2 it would be the 0411 ecm etc.. Thanks guys.. Any help on the tune and flags parameters that I need to adjust and turn off? Thanks again

I think the attached screen shot will help? This is how I disable the EGR. The screen shot shows the compare feature of TunerPro, which show a stock .bin setting for EGR.

Setting the minimum speed for EGR to 255 MPH is a good plan also.

I like using the parameter finder tool in TunerPro.

I'm wondering what setting are in the Preferences?

    From the TunerPro tool bar:
    Tools
    Preferences
    Data Acq/Emulation

I must be using an Older version of tuner pro? Version 4.14 ? You screen shot has different preferences than mine? Oh well ill mess around with the settings and see if I can get a connection. My interface types are Max 232-2/ 2Trans/ap or autoprom or translator pro? And Im using the ALDL1 and cable1 for the obd connection.

Wrong again, it would not be an 0411 PCM.

There's no way to register a 1995 truck as a 1996 MY truck! Unless it was stolen and had VIN plates swapped?

You should update to the latest version of TunerPro if you want the new $0D files to work!

With EGR off none of the EGR fueling or timing tables will be enabled.

Well here in Canada. I see vehicles all the time that were built in lets say 08 month of 1995 and they are sold as 1996 vehicles etc. late production or early build for the next year etc.. How is it that you can buy a 2014 truck that is built in 2013? At least thats how it works out here. There is a cutoff date for registration and years, at least that is how I understand it??? And buy 0411 ecm Im meaning something of the newer style ecm's Obd2 etc. Couldnt remember if they came in the vortec truck or not but from 99 to about 03-04 etc in the LS series trucks. ?? Oh well doesnt matter at the moment. No big deal. Ill turn those setting off in the tune to adjust for no egr and go from there. Now I just got to get he laptop to connect.

Thanks guys.. Now Im going to Order HP live and get tuning my Lq4 etc.. LOL.

You're very confused about what the manufacturers do. Yes, they sell the next model year vehicles way before the year starts but that is because the manufacturers start building the next year vehicles part way though the previous year. They'll most likely shut down the plants and re-tool to incorporate any changes that apply for the next year of vehicles around the 6th or 7th month of this year and then start building 2015 vehicles by the 7th or 8th month of this year.

If the truck was sold as a '96 then it is not a '95 and you can't assume that any info which applies to the '95 model year will apply to this truck. They don't start selling '95 vehicles as '96's just because they were late being sold.

My guess would be that you're dealing with the $63 mask '7427 used on 96-97 C/K trucks for export. That would also explain why you can't connect.

According to the BCC lookup spreadsheet I have, BJYL is 1995 $OD '7427 PCM.

    Something is mythical.

I don't see how the truck has the '7427 and $0D in '96.
