Tips on how to log a run with a manual transmission

    Hey as the title asks
Any pointer's on how to get a good log with a manual trans. T56 with 85 5th 65 6th OD and 4.11 gears in the 12 bolt
Is there an advantage to being able to select any gear?
Should I be logging in specific gears?
Do I ignore throttle changes during gear changes?

Just looking for tips on what is the best way to get smooth results. I have done some logging and wow is it choppy. Looks like a readout form a noise generator.

And a heads up I have the same question posted on the LT1 forum in case you frequent both like me.

drive in as many different conditions as you can... gears, engine loads, throttle positions, hill angles, road cambers, fuel tank levels, temperatures, amount of girls in the back seat, in power enrichment, not in power enrichment, tire pressures, etc. that you can.

then filter out the data into ranges of coolant temp, power enrichment active, etc.. then average out all that data in each range the best you can.

i should also mention that as much diverse data as possible is a good thing, but if you do spend most of your time driving how you usually do, the averages naturally weight themselves towards ordinary operating conditions so you dont end up with an optimized '5 girls in the back seat' tune when in fact that only happens once in a while.

There ain't no back seat LOL but see your point.
There is plenty of diversity in the roads around here. Open plains, gentle rollers or mountain climbs with 20mph switch backs if you feel lucky and think you can take it that fast.

Thanks for the tip Steveo. I'll be going over the EE writeup over the next couple days. Thanks for taking the tile to write it. I also took some points from our conversations and have disabled the EGR using your latest EE file. I'll try and make a couple runs andf see what happens. I am also going to use the MAF calibration you have in there to see if anything has been modified
