    another route i had explored was dual 64KB RAMs. basically program one with the micro, then hand it off to the ECM and let it run on that code. next update, write new values to the one the micro is already latched to, then hand it off to the ECM and keep swapping back and forth like that.

    also a really complex circuit.

    I could make a really stupid easy chip swapper setup using a toggle switch, and I might just do that for shits and giggles but as a more refined project I will have a micro running between the pc and ecm hopefully using the available ram and if necessary an offboard eeprom. It all gets complicated when I start thinking about it but it doesnt have to be. Craig does it with ease...so it would seem. :)
