I got a Ford Duraspark distributor from the junkyard to be used in my 351W TBI conversion. So far:
-taken it apart
-replaced the pick-up coil
-welded the mechanical advance to keep it from advancing centrifugally
-removed the vacuum advance canister.
I have not phased the pick-up coil to the armature yet. My timing table ranges from 3 to 35 degrees. My plan is make sure the rotor is 20 degrees from the distributor cap when the armature lines up with the pick up coil. This would mean when the ecm is commanding 20 degrees of advance, the rotor would lined directly up with the distributor cap post. When the ECM is commanding 35 degrees of advance, the rotor would be 15 degrees past the distributor post.
Does this make sense, or am I missing something?
