Personally, I would upgrade to the '7427 PCM using MPFI mode to keep the factory Vortec intake manifold.

    Which .xdf are you using?

Meh, I want to keep this truck reliable and minimize the modifications (such as doing a PCM and pin swap). Cause you know as well as I....the more you mess with this stuff the higher the likelyhood of being stranded on the side of the road with something "aftermarket" that broke.

I know what you mean. I have extensive experience with PCM upgrades and swaps, so I would feel very confident that I would be successful converting a '7060 to a '7427.

I like to mention all options ... ever say "If I would have know that ... I would have done that".

The modified $85 XDF. $85 mask somewhere along the way apparently morphed into $D8. lmao.

and I hear you on the upgrades. If/when I ever upgrade, the entire powertrain and control is coming from a late model 8.1L 2500 Suburban. The PCM, 8.1, transmission, etc. That way if something breaks and I'm in a crunch, its either from a 91 Suburban or a 2005 Suburban and it's a relatively common part. Not a hodgepodge of things that I'm trying to remember what vehicle or aftermarket vendor I got them from. lol.

How about a bit of a teaser? I would have never been able to get as far as I am without help from Eagle Mark and the other guys here.

Like I said, still a LONG way to go, but it's getting there.

TPS Threshold vs RPM for WOT (fast) <----what is the difference between this and "Norm"? (table is from 800-4000rpm)

They are both related to allowing PE, there's some qualifiers that allow Fast entry and some do not. If you just do away with the PE delay then no worries...

Thankyou Mark. Yes PE delay is 0 and I have a couple maps with the stock PE value and another with 50%.

I'm still working on my "glitching" issues which are TBD.....

You mean a data glitch every once in awhile? It's common on these PCMs...

I mean my data glitch with the G3 that my frustrations had started with last year. (in the other 7060 thread)

    Question for the experienced tuners:
For a Tow vehicle that would see PE for extended periods of time.......What would be a safe PE AFR you would feel comfortable with on E10? FWIW I usually run 92 octane and I'm thinking an AFR of 12.0 (E10).

    I forgot about that glitch...

Must be a big load and hill to use the PE? Lots of times if you just back out of it a little you can make it. If not?

For what it's worth and if IIRC... so Stoich is down to 14.1 and a safe PE WOT AFR on gas was considered to be 12.5, I decided to just do the same to PE and lower it by .6 so 11.9 AFR. We have a big mountain range just a few miles east of me on Interstate 90 so I have a good testing ground and tuned plenty of trucks in the area. One TBI dually steel flatbed with 4;10 gears, 5.7L and 4L80E and tows a large heavy trailer so a few weeks after a tune he was loaded with toys and headed over the mountain. I hooked up the data logger in his truck and followed him to the top where he pulled over and turned the truck off. He said he usually uses Drive and just takes it easy, but from previous logs it was stil in PE. So he'd been pulling a long time then the top section is the hardest and there's a pull off for trucks so he just stopped there and we pulled several plugs. All were a little darker then tan. So I was happy!

Remember....stock had the 70 second PE delay! It used to take a tremendous amount of throttle when pulling big hills....Not NEARLY as much now that I've tuned it. My wideband says about 12.5-12.8 right now (which is lower than that with E10) so I should I'm going to add a lil fuel in PE.

Yes, loaded. I consider very heavily loaded for this old truck....more than most people I would say. The truck hauls a camper and/or a boat and we know hauling is different than towing something. I have several mountain passes I continually drive thru around this part of Washington.

I pick this up on Wednesday just bought it new 3526lbs dry. Add 59 gallons of fresh water and supplies I will easily be near the 5000 range in the bed!
P.S I have my old camper for sale. haha
