    747vs288

I posted about getting a new used 747, I could never get my 747 to get the milage my 288 does. I have been playing today and on a level straight hyway 70mph 747 map 70.6 288 62.4 map kpa both are fairly good tuned chips same driving condition wind and all tempetures . if this interests you and you have a 288 it my do better in a v8 I have a v6. burn you a been and see if the 288 runs at a lower map than the 747, there is something different in the two ecms that make the 288 run at a lower map what I don't know 2 mpg differents at nothing to laugh at.

I'm thinking the major difference between 1227747 and the 16144288 would be the maximum RPM for fuel mapping. Maybe there are some differences in the spark mapping also. The 16144288 has only one VE table. There could be differences in the injector drivers, but I'm just guessing.

the timing will be your gain in vacuam.i normally adjust cruise timing live on the move and increase timing while watching tps and map.adjust timing to lowest tps and most vacuam to sustain current rpm/mph.youll be wurprised how much fuel consumption goes down when you cruise with lower tps and higher spark/lower fueling in the lower map regions.

sure wish I could apply the lean cruise patch to the 288 with parimiters to ajust it. unless you was driving this truck you would not belive the differents of the 2 ecms.

ony, both ECM are the same, there's no difference. Whatever your finding is in the calibration of the chip.

I found part of what I was seeing, on the 288 the log shows 95kpa with key on an engine off 747 100 kpa. I check it with my scanner in the morning. something is going on that old aksk bin always done almost the same the 288. got a head acke from playing with it.

been playing with the 288 off an on this week, dave is right change the timming table + or- 1or2 degrezz blms change a lot along with the mpgs,my old truck is made up of a lot of trucks so there is mix and match parts. it gets interesting when a 747 witch has a different timming table by 1.7 degrezz [more advance than the 288] does 2 mpg less . getting it sorted out.[dumb vortic it is to worn out to run it hard enough to get the carbon out of it before a good tune, this v6 likes less timming to do better mpg].
