    What codes do you have?

If the distributor timing wire is connected then I'd expect to something in the 15* to 25* range at idle. Definitely not 0*.

Do you know what was actually checked? If the "sensors and everything checks out" was true then you wouldn't have a problem driving the truck.

i cant tell what codes i have, my check engine light is always on but likely because egr wasnt tuned out, i dont think thatd cause it or it wouldve been an issue months befroe. tps, iac, o2's, coolant sensors, fuel pressure, distributor, spark plugs and everything in between have all been checked.

previously i had an issue with a battery cable that shorted and i reattached that drove it for awhile and then i started having issues. i need answers, anyone know a shop in michigan who can look at this im over miles on moms car, i cant go anywhere because i dont have a car, its not a very good buyers market out here as its been on craigslist. i just need it fixed. ive diagnosed as far as i can go with it. i cant pull trouble codes because my laptop doesnt work and the obd1 scanner wont recognize the aldl either. i dont know which pins to jump either. ive been seeing posts on sites about it being done two or three ways and there should only be one.

i cant locate a stock computer anywhere and the memcal seems to be fine works in my friends truck with almost the same setup so im really out of ideas. as of lately i cant work on it, its dark here and i work late.

Jump the A and B terminals of the DLC connector with a paper clip, then turn ignition switch to run position and count blinking SES. 12, ie one blink followed by two blinks, is beginning and of code stream.

I believe 43 is a knock sensor code. So, something is wrong with the knock sensor or the electronic spark control module or the wiring to either of those.

if i mcorrect the esc is located inside the computer, i had the knock sensor tested and it shows it was sending signal.

Then yes, you'd be correct that the knock module is internally contained within the memcal. First thing to do is verify your base timing with set timing connector wire unplugged. On that year model the set timing connector is located on the main harness after it comes through the firewall passenger side below glovebox. With the wire diconnected set timing to 0*. If that checks out then next I would verify continuity from the PCM to the knock sensor itself, suspecting the knock sensor last.

Ohm between the knock sensor plug and pin B15 in the red connector on the PCM.

so i have to let the engine warm up then put my test prong into B15 and ground the other side or what im not understanding? electrical dignostics isnt my strongest area.

so try to get engine to warm up if itll run that long, turn off unplug red connector, turn key to on, put positive to B16 ground the other side to the frame or something else?
