    p/n switch on EE manual?

    i had an idea yesterday

the EE pcm, which in my case is behind an M6, has a park/neutral switch input intended for only the automatic trans, which obviously isn't wired up in my harness, and is never grounded.

idle and the rev limiter each have two sets of tables/constants that are selected based on the park/neutral switch.

having two different rev limiter settings on a switch would be cool, as would two different idles. personally i like my idle to be low and rumbly, but as my engine mounts are hard and my flywheel is light, i've kept my idle a bit high just to keep vibration down for when i have passengers.

i also set my rev limiter pretty low in the winter, because i do a lot of WOT burnouts and drifts in the rain, some of them unintentional, and anything above 5000rpm in this type of weather would be useless.. a selectable 2 stage limiter would be awesome

    would this work?

the only thing i can think, is if the 'automatic trans' flag isn't set, the pcm might ignore this switch. i guess i might just have to test it.

this is likely the problem you'll run into.

if you're lucky, the rev limiting and idle speed stuff will be on the same PROM, or at least have that input sent out to the other side via SPI, if so, the code could be patched so that the p/n input circuit could be used to trigger those functions.

i'm hoping i'll be suprised; you'd figure only the y-body bin has oil temperature enabled, but the f-body bin does too... assuming it's normally open circuit, maybe they just got lazy and left the code in..

the other thing is, technically, except for lacking reverse lockout actuation (which my shifter kind of takes care of on its own), running with automatic flag enabled should do no harm, if i disable all the error codes? i should try that for fun too...

expect some drivability differences, at a minimum.
