Crank Sensor to Trigger Wheel Clearance?

Can't seem to find any specs on what the space should be between a crank sensor and trigger wheel?

91 Quad 4 8708 ECM and sensor if it matters? Or are they all about the same?

Most come with a peice of felt on end of sensor that rest on pickup then when motor start it removes the felt and leaves proprer clearance( so how thick is felt).

looking up data from an 89 grand am with the 2.3, GM states .050", which seems to be a common value for the 2 wire crank sensors.
