Newb Tuner Can you help me get started

so im new to the tuning game, got into it for a bit then had some issues come up and sorta forgot all what to do. i have my two bins and xdf files downloaded onto tunerpros but then whats my next step?

first off i shouldve mentioned the trucks a 93 350 tbi 4l60e. has heads cam intake exhaust and a slew of other things but i figured since this engine will be coming out soon that i may as well get a grasp of tuning this one so im ready for the next one.

    Hello Tylerz281500,

    I have a similar truck as yours, 93 k1500 4x4 4L60E that had a TBI 350, and is now a TPI 383.
So I'll help you as much as I can. I am in the finishing touches of tuning my TPI (MPFI) swap.

My PCM is the 16168625, which I am guessing is yours as well?
Which uses file definitions specific to the PCM your working with. The 16168625 used the $E6 definition. So you download the $E6 XDF and install it to TunerPro ( or TunerPro RT, works in both programs ).

And if so which stock bin definition does your PCM have? BHAS or BHAN? or other?
You can download other 16168625 bins here:
    http://www.gearhead-efi.com/Fuel-Inj...Information-E6

There are other items on this page you can check out too.
The ADX files you will need are also located on that same page.

I would download and install TunerPro RT. It has more capabilities and has chip burning software in it ( Craig Moates ). It is free to use, but if you like it, (and you will!) Donate the $39 to register it with Mark M.

There are a few ADX files (mentioned above) ^^ to choose from that will give you more to look at, and has dashboard settings already set up. Necessary for data logging.

So really guess we need more information from you on what you have, and what you did??

Do you have a chip burner? Or any adapter boards or the like that will allow you to install your burned chips in your PCM? Like this one from Craig Moates:

TunerPro RT open, Acquisition, Load Definition File! When it's loaded and ALDL cable hooked up, engine running click the double arrow icon to connect, or Aqusistion Start/Stop Data Scan. Or if you want to record then record. When done stop and you'll be prompted to save the file with a name.

Any luck getting communication with your cable?
If it works on one computer and not another, maybe there are driver issues on the one computer?

Software drivers for the ALDL cable your using with your PC, or laptop. Not sure if your cable needs one, but the systems I use have drivers.

I'd try to help but I can't understand post #3.

In the first paragraph... it starts in middle of thread so read a little to get idea.

What driver do you have installed?

Plug your cable into laptop, no need for vehicle, and go to Control Panel, Device Manager, find the com port number and check driver. Should be:
    Driver FTDI
    Date 4/10/2012
Version 2.08.14 has been working for all. 2.8.24.0 has worked for a lot. Anything higher could have issues!!! If you'd like to read up on it check this post and thread that started the diagnostics to find the issue with drivers.

I think he means ALDL cable when he says ALDL? I've given instructions to load ADX. Wonder if he is clicking connect?
