What do you guys use to clean a complete harness and do you remove all the tubing around them?
What exactly do you mean by "clean a complete harness"?
You mean clean up unnecessary wires, or wash it?
The man who says something is impossible, is usually interrupted by the man doing it.
I strip all the convoluted tubing and save what is reusable. Most of the time the harness is going to change anyway. It all needs to come off to get tape off so un-nessecery wires can be removed.
Then cleaning I use acetone on a rag and wipe down all the wires to clean up grease/oil and sticky from tape. For the plugs I use brake clean, tooth brush and a rag or air. Then they are nice and clean and ready to rework.
The hardest part of a harness to rework is from ECM/PCM and power. This is usually a mess when pulled from a car. This one I opted for all JY pulled GM parts!
When you get this organized and mounted then lay out the sensor wires across engine and shorten or lengthen in middle with solder and shrink wrap. Some tape or wire ties to orginize and run the vehicle before re-covering with convoluted tubing for protestion and looks.
