So I've been working on this thing some more. I've been implementing some stuff to eventually supports changing indicators colors (most requested feature request!). It will be configurable by indicator and by components of indicator. For example, for a gauge, you will be able to change rim color, pointer color, pivot point color, scale color, title color and value color. The colors are now saved in the "main.json" file found in the dashboard folder. If you manually edit those colors, the app will pick it up and will render the indicators with those colors. I haven't got to the UI yet tho so because that's quite a bit of work, I will probably work on that later. The next version will still includes what has been done so far so someone really wanting to change colors will be able to edit the dashboard file manually (sucks but still progress!).

I've also just fixed the two issues I spotted in your video pma4x4 that I mentioned above.

And my AutoProm is at the post office so I will go get that later this week. It will probably be the next thing I will be working on, supporting data logging with the AutoProm in APU1 mode.

PS: Chris, have you got the app yet ?

Ok I got the AutoProm on Friday. Just started playing with it, I'm trying data logging in both pass-thru mode and APU1. In pass-thru it works fine but in APU1 mode, I'm getting garbage data for some reason. All testing is done in TunerPro for now.

When I use APU1 mode, I do set the baud rate switch to 8192 (testing with a '7730) and do select AutoProm as Interface type in TunerPro. Anything else I'm missing ?

    Pass-thru mode:

    APU1 mode:

I will look into this more later but if somebody have an idea what could be going on in the mean time, I would appreciate.

    Thank you

i seem to remember having to select the APU in TunerPro. Check under the Tools --> Hardware Utilities and Emulation menus.

Humm, that just seems to be useful to look at the extra ADC inputs values. For some reason, it does seems to change the values on the dashboard when I open that, but its just some other random garbage... Weird!

Humm, it seems to work fine with my '7747 but not my '7730. Not sure if its something with the ADX or what...

For tonight, a new indicator style was created and I also have some questions for you guys. First here is the new indicator (the RPM one):

    And now for the questions:

1- Well, do you guys the new indicator ? :P
2- As you've figured out by now and I've mentioned a couple time already, I'm really not a designer. That explains why the indicators don't look that great but works pretty decent. So I'm very open to idea, if you guys can post any screenshot of indicator you like (from another app or whatever), I will gladly take different gauge style into consideration. Either a basic idea for a new gauge or some style/colors idea. I won't copy anything over, I'm just looking for inspiration really.
3- The only thing I'm missing to add the new indicator style into the next version of the app is a name for it, any idea ? :)

    Thanks

I could add some different colors based on the indicator value. Ranges could be defined for each indicator to assign different color. Something I will definitely keep in mind. Thanks!

I like it! When you need a large gauge it would work... take a look at Log Dash in the $42 ADX, it has some half gauges (to save room) that would work great on top or bottom... or even sides if they could be twisted to work that way.

Yep Mark, good idea, I will try to come up with indicators that can be easily used along the side, always useful for small screen device :D

I like the indicator.. I would also like to know what to change for the coloring. also a how to will help

Is there a 'global' setting and then secondary one? meaning I can change the global setting and everything will change and then if a specific gauge I want a different color I can change that?

Or will I need to change each gauge on my dash..

I found out that copying the json file from one tablet to another did not work well for me. but that said, the tablets had a different resolution

Yep, different resolution would be an issue. I might fix that at one point as well but that seems to not be super common use case so its not high in priority list. For colors, for now you will have to manually edit the dashboard file if you REALLY want to change colors so yes you would have to copy paste for every indicators. That shouldn't take more than 30 seconds tho and is a one time deal so its not that bad. That being said, I want to have a proper UI for indicators styling at some point. Of course you will have the option to copy the indicator style from another one to the current one or start from scratch with color picker and stuff.

Lets be realistic tho, this is far from done but that's what I'm working toward. I would like to come up with a new indicator style that would be an analog gauge and after that, I will probably do a release. From there, I might start on the new UI for indicators styling, we'll see.

Summer development is definitely not going as fast as winter but I gotta enjoy the turbo whistle a bit too, you know :D

OK, so digital gauge are in for the next release! Here is a screenshot of my tablet showing all available indicators:

And here is a screenshot after spending 2 minutes editing the dashboard file to change colors (OK, more like 45 minutes but I had to fix a bunch of colors bugs along the way :)) Don't mind the colors, its just to show you guys that it's now possible to change them, hopefully they won't make your eyes bleed or something :)

    haven't used your software

but as far as interface elements, you're on the right track.

    try like...

GAUGE FACE GAUGE BORDER GAUGE EDGE TEXT GAUGE NEEDLE GAUGE VALUE

needle and gauge value need to stand out way more than border etc, because that's what you need at a glance so your eye needs to be drawn to them, and stick out in peripheral vision..
