When we were looking for a android tablet that was one of the original things we were looking for was one with a conventional USB port. It was a thing being phased out as it doesn't jive with the whole "on the go" thing. We found a couple of no name tablets that had regular USB but they were a last year model and no more with USB. The problem is EVERYTHING is going wireless. I don't mind it but I sure would like the option of keeping it caveman and plugging a cable in.

Even if the 7730 via BT doesn't transmit at its full potential its not like I am relying on the tablet solely for gauges. even this 1 a second isnt that bad. Would it be nice to be genuine real time sure but its auxiliary data so it is what it is. still AWESOME!

AutoProm APU1 mode ALDL support is next ? I think so!

Oh thanks for the input on the USB.. now.. any suggestions on a USB cable? I really want it to be pigtailed so I can hardwire it, and make it shorter than the one I have in the car, then use the one in the car for other things

Maybe you can ask Timm (http://www.reddevilriver.com/aldl.html) if he can sell you a cable without the ALDL connector. I'm assuming he's assembling them so that it should be no problem. Otherwise you can ask Moates the same thing.

If nobody want to do that, you just bought whatever one and cut the ALDL connector yourself, you just won't save a few bucks I guess, not too bad :)

Yeah I could hack it, but want to be sure I am wiring the right pins. I keep looking at some of the other radios but I think I like having the tablet in the dash and I spent too much time making a new bezel to turn back now.. LOL

Yeah I know.. this winter.. just got done swapping a couple panels.. with the wiring now it is a PITA..

Ah well.. no other options really
