Inovate LC-1 Serial Out to AutoProm?

I just got my LC-1 wired up to an Moates O-Meter using the brown wire to the meter. Yellow wire will be hooked into single wire O2 sensor wire to ECM.

Is there anyway to use the serial out to wire into the AutoProm? It has extra circuts for this and can then be seen in the recorded data in TunerPro. Thought it would be nice to have a gauge to watch and see the AFR in the same data as recorded by TunerPro while emulating.

What ECM/PCM are you using? I haven't tried anything with the '7747 yet, but with the '7427 you can tie the WB analog signal to the PCM on the Linear EGR Pintle Position wire. Then set up the .adx for it, that is what I do for the Camaro.

I use a LM-1 so I don't really know the LC-1 firsthand but from reading the LC-1 manual it seems to me that the serial out is only for connecting to another LC-1/LM-1 or directly to your laptop.

There is a way to connect the WB analog out directly to the AutoProm on one of the three A/D inputs. This is for '7727 but I can't imagine making it work for '7747 would be that much harder....

It's a 7747 for now but I have it set up mobile so I can use it on whatever I am working on.

It's easy to run the brown wire to AutoProm and get the signal in but that's the one you use for the Moates Ometer. All I have left is the serial analog out. May have to get a gauge for that and then use the brown wire.

You can program the NB sim output to be a WB (0 - 5V) output as well, I believe.

At the very least you can make it a 0 to 1V linear output and configure the O-meter to use that range.

I have not tried it, but I was under the impression you could tie both the APU1 and the O-meter into the brown wire. After all they are just comparing and converting the sensed voltage on that wire to a digital signal. Just like adding a NBO2 guage to a stock EFI setup? No?

I've used the Inovate LC-1 WB in simulated NB mode. I can't say simulated NB mode is impressive. The simulated NB mode is functional, but not as responsive as I would have hoped for.

Will have to look into that! Right now I have it set with an O2 sensor plug on it for easy installation as a simulated while then wide band is in.

Could always record data via Sereial one to computer in Logworks. But still think it would be nice to have with same data in TunerPro via AutoProm.

Re: Inovate LC-1 Serial Out to AutoProm?

I emailed Moates to ask if I can Tee the wideband brown wire to O-Meter and AutoProm. That would sure be a slick set up. Could watch AFR and then go back to Data and see exactly whats happeneing.

I have this LC-1 wide band wired to the Ometer and can install as a temporary fairly easly. One ground, one key on power, take out narrow O2 sensor, plug in simulated O2, calibrate free air, then install wideband. Should only take a half hour to install and un-install.

With the wide band O2 in I will have to relearn tuning techniques. I was thinking of going open loop and get fueling correct, then check WBO2 readings at WOT. after that reinstall NBO2 and all should be veryu close.

Haven't heard back from Moates yet but I did T the brown WideBand O2 signal to the O-Meter and the AutoProm. Just have to find time to hook it up and test it out.

Re: Inovate LC-1 Serial Out to AutoProm?

Well I've got this all hooked up on the bench but when I connect the AutoProm to my computer the AFR on the O-Meter get's cut in half. Reading 7.4. Without it is 15.0 so don't know if it is going to work.

But think I will need some help from Robert on setting up the correct packets for a 1227747.adx so it reads correctly. May need some help from Inovate as well but I'm getting there...

Re: Inovate LC-1 Serial Out to AutoProm?

For now I am going another route, just recording data with the serial connection to PC and using brown anolog wire to AutoProm to record data in data stream. I could also use the yellow (anolog) wire and reconfigure it in the software to read WB if I understand this correctly but want to use it as is for a simulated NB. This way I can take out the NB O2 sensor and replace with the LC_1 Wide Band, no need to weld in another bung just to tune a car. One of these days my own car will have 2 O2 bungs so I can leave the WB in as well as the NB to ECM.

Inovate answered my question but it is way beyound my technical knowledge. I will post up their serial Protocol in case someone else needs it.
    ------------------------------------------------------
I'm not familiar with the AutoProm device you're referring to, however the format of the serial data output by the LC-1 is detailed in this document:

    http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/supp ... llog-2.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

If your device can be configured to extract the relevant data from the stream, then it should be possible. Perhaps refer to the AutoProm documentation or contact its manufacturer.

There should be no issue connecting the LC-1's analog out to multiple devices, as long as their inputs are of high enough impedance. If you're finding that connecting your two devices is altering the reading, then one or both of them are excessively loading up the LC-1's output. Depending on how old the LC-1 is, this could possibly damage it. Later ones featured current limiting on their analog outputs to protect the internal D-A converters, so too much load will result in low voltage output.

I have also attached the Moates Serail Protocol. All this should be good information for a program writer.

Re: Inovate LC-1 Serial Out to AutoProm?

OK Got another email from Inovate and the answer is NO! Anolog outputs will only supply one device. So tying a brown anolog output to O-Meter and the AutoProm will not work!

Adding another wiring diagram for AutoProm to Lc-1 wiring.
