alright so i warned you all in the intoductions that dumb questions were to fallow so here we go ...
is there some sort of delay when installing a new ecm untill it actually funtions?
i will give you an example:
85 corvette that had a 870 ecm i repinned to the 165. after repinning i think it had this same issue... anyhow i wanted to slightly lengthen a couple wires that were a tad tight(no more then 2") so i cut all power to the car and unplugged ecm and when i was done i plugged it back in and restored power and turned key on and no check engine light so i start checking ecm wires for grounds and hots and find no problem, hook back up and no light..(also when this happens no fp relay either) so anyhow i scratch my head and check some other things and get distracted but when turn key again its alive...
so anyhow after concluding that all my ecm wires are ok i got a new ecm and plugged it in and same thing, it was dead.. no check engine or 2 sec fp relay so i discustedly put the old ecm back and it was now dead too but after some time it worked..
something built into the ecm's? or something else? any ideas?
i should add that it works flawlessly after that initial long delay after unhooking and hooking back up..scans with handheld, loggs to pc fine no problems forever unless you unplug it and plug back in.
thanks for reading my ramblings
