I have just finished tuning a engine combo very similar to your.

You have found the right site the members on here are very helpful. They must be busy or they would have already welcomed you aboard.

The Vortec heads will make a big change in performance but be prepared they take some work to get tuned. I would definitely recommend you get Dave or Mark to help you, it is worth what little they charge and you will learn as they work through the tuning process with you.

I had Davew (Old School EFI) a member on this site get the tune sorted out for me.

Dave helped me along with the actual tune and continues to answer any questions I have. Not to leave Eaglemark out because he has always been more than helpful with and additional questions about tuning or using TunerPro.

Either one of these guys will get you headed in the right direction. I am sure once they get a chance to check the board they will be happy to answer any questions you might have.

I too started out a very slow learner. But thanks to the great help available on this site, over the last 7 or 8 months I am at the point now I am able to make minor tune changes to my BIN and burn my own chips. Something 8 months ago I would have said was impossible.

So, to start data logging, I need Roberts USB ALDL cable and tuner pro?

Alright, it has been awhile since I posted on here. Truck started running poorly, even moreso since it got cold. I'm patiently waiting on parts to build a cable for datalogging. In the meantime, here are some pics of my plugs after about five months.

Well it's not running good... but would not expect it to with Vortec heads and a comp cam on a stock tune!

You'll find plenty of threads here where it may as well be a stock chip.

I found out the hard way :( I'm eventually going to go the burn2 route. Do you have a recommendation for a zif socket? The one dave w mentioned in the 7747 flash conversion post seems to be on back order.

There's lots of ways to change the chip but I use Moates products:
    https://www.moates.net/g2-memory-ada....html?cPath=64

Solder it in and done. Then can add a zif for ease when tuning. If you solder it in by itself the chip will clear the case when done.

Well, after dealing with a failed fuel pump, I did ALOT of reading, soldered in a G2, burned an ADSU bin and datalogged. Long story short, my second chip runs way better than the "custom" mail order chip. Still have a ways to go, but am excited about it, truck finally runs like I was hoping for and know that there's more to be had :) I would like to thank you all for the information on this site, especially Eagle Mark! Like I said, still have a ways to go, but at least the frustration of a useless chip is gone.
