    VATS issue - 3800 L27 to L67 - $5B4 $5B5

Hi all, working with a 1992 Pontiac Bonne - was originally an L27 NA car, has been converted to the L67 Supercharged engine.

    L27 uses a 16141470 PCM with $5B4
    L67 uses a 16141470 PCM with $5B4

The vehicle starts and runs with L27 Prom AXAZ - Tech1 says VATS YES

I have a memcal here from a L67 car - BCFN - swapped it over and says Tech1 says VATS NO - Cuts out within 2 seconds

I copied BCFN to the computer and edited it with Tunerpro to unselect VATS.

Same issue - Cranks, Starts, Stalls immediately - VATS NO

Strange as the wiring diagrams are identical for the VATS (PassKey) system. I have checked both 1992, 1993 and 1994 wiring diagrams and there are no differences when it comes to the VATS fuel enable signal. Even with VATS enabled in the stock memcal it should have ran!

As a test I burnt AXAZ on the BCFN memcal and it ran no issues.

    HELP!?

    Thanks all!

    Dan

so VATS was enabled on the factory L27 calibration as well? but simply switching to the L67 calibration causes a fail?

    Turn off VATS!

There's probably a high and low VATS frequency in the bin, but since it's not in the mask/xdf you have no way to know where to change it.

I unchecked VATS on the L67 bin and it STILL failed on VATS . How can I be certain what def to use for the L27 and the L67?

AXAZ the L27 Prom looks to be in $5B5

BCFN looks to be in $5B4

Would it be at all possible that I'd have to disable the VATS flag in the BCFN using $5B4 AND $5B5 xdf? They have their VATS enable in a different location on the bin. Could the PCM be checking both locations?

BCFN is NOT in $5B4 as listed on here - the TCC vs Spark and MAT tables are all messed up.

There's more then that messed up in the XDF, some of the parameters address are off the chip?

There's always been some controversy over all the $5B XDF/masks and extra number on end. Since none of the one's I've seen have been signed and we don't have a hack for them I find them all questionable.

I think John at TunerCat is the only one who knows what they really are and are his designations? If it were a car I needed to tune I'd buy the correct mask from TunerCat.

BCFN was also superseded to BDHN which we do not have?

BCFN is attached. This was read directly from the Memcal.

Is there anyway I can check where the VATS flag should address too? Really all I need to do is turn VATS off. I would guess that the current $5B4 xdf may have the VATS address wrong.

Unless someone has a hack/dissasembly that I don't have? Then I would not know how to check and see where it is or what is accurate?

I have paid for the def from Tunercat but only after paying noticed on their site that they are closed for July 4th holidays.

5B4 XDF looks to be correct for BCFN. for some reason, the MAF tables 7 and 8 seem to be swapped?

i'm sure other little corrections are needed too, i know the later 5B stuff wasn't 100% accurate at times.

what happens if both the "VATS select" and VATS DTC are disabled?
